II’ll be honest with you — when I first started with AI, I felt completely lost. I had no idea what I was doing.
But now? I use it almost every single day, and it has genuinely made my life easier and more interesting. I’m 67, spent my whole career in the restaurant world, and I’m definitely not a tech guy. If I can do this, you absolutely can too.
Here’s what my daily life with AI actually looks like:
- Big decisions and home projects When my garage door needed replacing, I asked AI to research modern options, explain the costs, and help me prepare smart questions for contractors. I even uploaded the three bids I received and had it compare them. I ended up getting a much better deal and didn’t waste money on things I didn’t need.
- Work and creative ideas I use it to brainstorm recipes, improve bakery formulas, and think through new ideas faster than I ever could before.
- Everyday tasks Writing emails, planning trips, comparing products, or organizing projects — AI takes care of the heavy lifting.
- Learning new things I can ask it to explain complicated topics in plain English, like how my EV works or how to grow better tomatoes in Colorado.
- Just having someone to talk to Some days I just need to think out loud or work through a problem. AI is always there, patient and non-judgmental.
My Best Advice Talk to AI like you’re talking to a smart, helpful friend. Use normal sentences. If you don’t understand something, just say “Make this simpler” or “Explain it like I’m 67.” And if you hate typing (like me), many AIs including Grok can listen to your voice and turn your words into text.
AI isn’t here to replace us. It’s here to help us — to make us faster, smarter, and less stressed.
I created this site because I believe more people (especially folks my age and older) should feel comfortable using this powerful tool. I’m still learning right alongside you, and I plan to keep sharing what I discover.
If you have questions or ideas for future posts, please leave a comment. I read every one.
